This month I met with Aaron Flannery, the current guidance counselor. We discussed the possibility of me coming into the school and giving a talk about the importance of filing out a scholarship application correctly. Aaron is going to email me about a date.
Alison Gibson, and the Union Township Public Library, want to partner with me, GFWCRWC education rep, to conduct two seminars on filing out college scholarships. Parents and RULH seniors will be invited to attend the sessions. I am waiting for two dates to perform this seminar. Alison is going to email me with the dates.
Put out additional signs to support the upcoming levy. Don’t forget to get out and vote for the levy!
October 15:
I emailed Alison Gibson about nights for the event for preparing a good scholarship application. The dates are November 6 and 20. I called Aaron Flannery to set up college scholarship application nights. I prepared a synopsis for the library website per Alison’s request. I emailed the high school senior English teacher the dates and times for the seminars.
October 27
I called the RHS and spoke to Ms. Skinner. She said they had placed the description of the event on the announcements. I offered to come in to talk to the seniors during seminar period. She said that would not be necessary, because Aaron Flannery, the Guidance Counselor was going to do that. She said I could come if I wanted but she felt Aaron telling them in person was enough.
I sent an email with the description of the seminar to all guidance counselors in the county. I got one response back and that was from Eastern Brown’s guidance counselor, Alana Humphrey. She put it on the announcements and announced it as well and asked for me to give her the number of EB students that attended.
October 28,
I went to the library and Alison Gibson gave me free use of the copy machine. I made ten copies of the YouCAN scholarship application, ten copies of a winning scholarship application, and ten copies of four Tip Sheets.
October 30, 2014
I compiled all the materials that I ran copies of on October 28. The library copier is the old one so I had to run each sheet individually. All materials plus blank sheets are in order and ready for the seminar.
