Lori Blackburn is Ripley’s Outstanding Citizen for 2018
Lori Blackburn has been honored by the GFWC Ripley Women’s Club as the Outstanding Citizen of the Year for 2018. Ms. Blackburn was nominated by several people, who called her selfless, kind, and always willing to go above and beyond. In addition, they cited the fact that Lori has:
“…devoted countless hours delivering thousands of meals to the elderly and shut-ins in our area. As many of you know who have served at the Thursday evening Community Soup Kitchen, she is like the postal worker motto, “Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night stays the couriers from swift completion of their appointed rounds!”
That should also be Lori’s motto, because she is there every Thursday picking up and delivering a warm meal that has lovingly been prepared by community and church volunteers, to those who cannot get out of their homes.”
Lori was honored as someone who “loves our wonderful Ripley community and continually strives to make it the warm caring village it is today” . “She always answers a neighbor’s call for help in their greatest hour of need”. In attendance with Lori to receive her award were her daughter Gracie, her mother Linda Kratzer, and sisters Michelle Kratzer and Cindy Winners. Lori received a plaque to recognize her service.
The GFWC Ripley Women’s Club thanks all that nominated someone for Outstanding Citizen. It is so important to honor those that serve our community. To view past winners, please visit our website at https://ripleyohiowc.com or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Ripleyohiowc/
