Facts about The Ripley Women’s Club
Do you really know any FACTS about the Ripley Women’s Club? What is the organization REALLY all about? Her are some little known facts!
Fact 1: The Ripley Women’s Club is the LONGEST ACTIVE SERVICE CLUB and is represented by community minded women of all ages.
Fact 2: The Ripley Women’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Club which boosts clubs in all fifty states. Becoming a member of the Ripley Women’s Club automatically allows you to become a part of Ohio Generation of Women’s Clubs.
Fact 3: The focus of the Ripley women’s Club is to actively participate in in community improvement especially in the areas of education, beautification, preserving history and civic/patriotic projects.
To focus on issues that concern women including personal growth if members.
To gain/sustain friendship with current and potential members through collaborate work, fun, caring, support, socializing and camaraderie.
These are all very important facts about the Ripley Women’s Club, but here are some Intimate facts that perhaps you as readers do not know!
Do you recognize any of the names of past members who worked hard to keep the club and the RWC’s projects at the forefront of their community?
Charter Members included: Dorothy Blackburn, Marian Brookbank, Mary Ann Chapman, Christine Franz, Geraldine Gifford, Nancy Griener, Rita Grippa, Leona Haas, Arvella Heffernan, Shirley Klinker, Doris Martin, Betty Lou Milligan, Harriett Milligan, Pat Montogomery, Nancy Paeltz, Ruth Richey, Helen Jane Rice, Edith Rossman, Charlotte Russell, Mary Louise Shudlick, Jenny Schumann, Betty Trapp, Olivette Wilson, Marjorie Work, and Mirian Zachman. Do you know any of these women or are related to any of them? If so, you could help carry on their legacy!
These Women started the first kindergarten in Ripley and were responsible for obtaining funding to pave the road to the John Rankin House. These are just two of the many things that those women accomplished.
